Job Title: Forest Farmer/Silvopasture Manager Co-op


Job Summary:

The Forest Farmer/Silvasture Manager co-op position is responsible for managing and maintaining a sustainable forest farming operation with a focus on silvopasture practices. This position will involve closely with our permaculturist Earth Elder and supporting them with various tasks related to forest farming, livestock management, and land stewardship.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation and management of sustainable forest farming and silvopasture practices

  • Participate in the planning and executing of farming activities, including planting, harvesting, and timber management.

  • Maintain records of forest farming activities, including inventory management, production yields, and other relevant.

  • Help manage and maintain livestock on the silvopasture system including feeding, grazing rotation, and health monitoring.

  • Assist in maintaining and repairing infrastructure and equipment related to forest farming and silvopasture operations.

  • Conduct regular farm inspections to identify and address any potential issues or hazards.

  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement innovative solutions to improve forest farming and silvopasture practices.

  • Participate in educational opportunities and stay up-to-date with the latest research and industry trends in farming and silvopasture management.


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and passion for sustainable agriculture and land stewardship.

  • Familiarity with forest farming and silvopasture principles and techniques is preferable.

  • Basic understanding of livestock management practices.

  • Organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
